Meet Stella, our very first goat. We bottle raised her starting at 4 weeks old. She is so sweet and easy going. Her voice is soft and sweet.
Twins Penny and Sidney are strong and loud girls. Penny is bossy and sometimes grumpy. Sidney loves scratches and loves to lick my legs.
Jinny Sue is delicate and dainty. But she can hold her own with the big goats and will knock them out of the way to get her share of grain.
Here is Black Betty. Betty came to us with a broken leg. We were told that it might not heal. Just look at her now! She is strong, healthy, and the best mama, even to babies that are not her own. Her favorite song is "Down to the River to Pray".
These sweet girls are Jackie and Mabel. They follow me every step I take. They are both agile on the balance beam, frontwards and backwards!
Here is Tate when he was a baby. We didn't need a buck, but how could we resist?! Tate is large and in charge now. He loves his ladies!
Eevee and Dolly are new to our herd. Eevee is an F3 Nigora (Nigerian Dwarf and Angora) from Pennsylvania, and Dolly is an F2 Nigora from New Orleans. Nigora's are bred for milk AND fiber. The American Nigora Goat Breeders Association can open a Registry once Nigora goats between the generation F1 to F5 have been recorded into a foundation herd book. These ladies are making history with their superior genetics and overall conformation. They are smart, strong, and elegant!
Last but not least, here is sweet Scarlet. She is also a Nigora (F1). She is a native Texan and enjoys jumping on high things like the roof of the chicken coop. She quickly learned how to jump out of her stall at night by jumping from the hay feeder to the edge of the stall then right over. This picture shows her first fiber, soft and silky!
